NASCAR....I Love You! -Christiana R.

Imagine a speedway so fierce, drivers tremble in its presence. First, visualize the track. I want you to be its fans, the aficionados in the stands. The fans are in rows of multicolored seats, rusted from years and years of wear and tear. Every seat is filled with excitement: passionate, rednecks wearing the number of their favorite driver, holding a beer in one hand and a hotdog in the other, cheering on the action. The announcers and spotters lie above. They dillgently work. As pitstops are underway, the pit crew rapidly changes tires, fills up the tank, and makes an adjustment to the car, all in 14 seconds. The cars are four wide, trading paint as they head into turn four. And, the checkered flag waves, the winning driver burnsout infront of his loyal fans in appreciation of their support. The race has ended, but is not yet over.

NASCAR is an amazing sport, I just wish that more people knew that. It is a rush of adventure every weekend. So, I wrote this in support of one of my favorite sports. NASCAR....I love you!

  1. I am not a very sportsy person. I don't watch baseball, or football, or American football, or baseball... I can't even tell the teams apart. But I can still say I enjoy those sports more than racing. Although I personally don't like racing, I'm glad it exists and know many people who do. Our differences make a better world.

  2. While I do agree that watching NASCAR can be exciting, usually more for the crashes nowadays, I wouldn't go so far as to classify it as a sport in the same realm as let's say basketball, football, baseball, soccer, etc. I do admire the activity though: it must be difficult to be making the same turns over and over again for 100 laps.

  4. I rarely hear people share their interest for NASCAR and racing so it's interesting to see things from your perspective. I'm personally not a fan of racing but I'm glad that you've found great interest in it. Your passion for racing really shows through this post.

  6. Jonathan-
I dont know there's something about Nascar that just doesnt click with me. Ha-HA I actually have a story about Nascar. When I was 6 years old my mom took me to the Speedway in Fontana to watch one of the biggest races of the year. When we got there I remember within five minutes I was tuging on my mom's pants saying " I dont get it they are just going in circles."
